120 grams of King Cole big value baby DK Yarn
3.50mm & 4.00mm crochet hook
4 medium buttons
ribbon bow
TENSION - 5tr and 2.5 rows of tr's measure approx 1" using a 4.00mm hook

Coat is worked in one piece starting from yoke
With 4.00mm hook make 57ch, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into the next 6ch,
(front) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 8ch, (shoulder) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into
the next 19ch, (back) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch, (shoulder) 3tr into
next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch. (front) Turn. (62tr + 3ch)
Rows 2 to 10 - Make 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into
centre tr on 3tr group, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr
into centre tr on 3tr group, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch.
You should have 134tr + 3ch at the end of Row 10.
Row 11 - (Divide for Armholes) Make 3ch, 1tr into each tr to centre tr of 3tr group,
1tr into centre tr, miss 28tr, 1tr into each tr to centre tr of next 3tr group, 1tr
into centre tr, miss 28tr, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (78tr
+ 3ch)
Next Row - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, * miss 2tr, (2tr, 2ch, 1dc) into next tr, rpt
from * to * to last 2tr and 3ch to turn with, miss last 2tr, 2tr into top of 3ch.
Turn. (25 Groups)
Pattern Row - Make 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, (2tr, 2ch, 1dc) into next 2ch space,
* miss 2tr and dc, (2tr, 2ch, 1dc) into next 2ch space, * rpt from * to * to end,
miss 3tr, 2tr into top of 3ch. Turn.
Rpt Pattern Row until 14 rows have been worked from division or work measures approx
10.5 inches from shoulder. Fasten off.
Sleeves x 2 - With RS side facing join yarn to side of tr under arm with a ss, make
3ch, 1tr into each of next 28tr, 1tr into side of tr on opposite side of sleeve,
ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (29tr + 3ch)
Next Row - 3ch, (1tr, 2ch, 1dc) into base of 3ch, * miss 2tr, (2tr, 2ch, 1dc) into
next tr, rpt from * to * to last 2tr, miss last 2tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning
of row. Turn. (10 Groups)
Pattern Row - ss to first 2ch space, 3ch, (1tr, 2ch, 1dc) into same 2ch space, *
miss 2tr and dc, (2tr, 2ch, 1dc) into next 2ch space, rpt from * to * to end, miss
1tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt Pattern Row until 12 rows have been worked from division or under arm sleeve
seam measures approx 5 inches. Fasten off.
Button/Buttonhole Bands - Using 3.50mm hook with RS facing and starting at lower
edge on right hand side of coat, work 2dc into each row end up first front edge to
corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each stitch around neck to next corner, 3dc into
corner, 2dc into each row end down second front edge to end. Turn.
Button Band - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc along front edge to end.
Turn. Rpt last row twice. Fasten off.
Buttonhole Band - Return to neck edge on first front edge, working from neck downwards
make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
Buttonhole Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 6dc,
* rpt from * to * twice, 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into remaining dc. Fasten off. (4 buttonholes
made).
Finishing - Close small gaps under arms, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim,
sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes, decorate with ribbon bow.
