120 grams of King Cole big value DK in Colour 1

20 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in Colour 2


OR

4.25oz of Light Worsted Weight #3 in color 1

1oz of Light Worsted Weight #3 in color 2

4.00mm & 4.50mm crochet hook, 2 buttons


GAUGE - 5sc and 5 rows measures approx 1 Inch


Tip.   Carry each unused color under each stitch

Back - # With 4.50mm hook and color 1, ch9, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (8sc)


Rib - Working in back loop of stitch only, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Rpt last row until 44 rows have been worked in all from beginning. Do not turn.


Working in row ends along side of rib ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each row end to end. Turn. (44sc)


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. #


Rpt last row until 54 sc rows have been worked from rib or work measures approx 11.5 inches from beginning. Fasten off.


Front - Rpt from # to # on back of sweater. Turn.


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 3sc, using color 2, (see Tip), work 1sc in each of next 12sc, pick up color 1 and work 1sc in each of next 12sc, pick color 2 and work 1sc in each of next 12sc, pick up color 1 and work 1sc in each of last 4sc. Turn.


Rpt last row until 12 rows have been worked. Turn.


Using color 1 and starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Rpt last row once. Turn.


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 15sc, using color 2, work 1sc in each of next 12sc, pick up color 1 and work 1sc in next 16sc. Turn.


Rpt last row until 12 rows have been worked. Turn.


Using color 1 and starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Rpt last row three times. Turn.


First Half of Front Split - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 20sc, turn leaving 23sc un-worked.


Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Rpt last row until 14 sc rows have been worked from split. Turn.


Shape Neck - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 15sc, turn leaving 5sc un-worked. (16sc)


Dec Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, dec 1sc over next 2sc, (see abbrev) 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. (15sc)


Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Rpt last 2 rows twice.


Rpt Dec Row once. Fasten off. (12sc)


Second Half of Front Split - Return to un-worked 23sc at split, skip 2sc, join color 1 to next sc, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. (21sc)


Rpt rows from First Half of Front Split until you Shape Neck. Fasten off.


Shape Neck - Skip 5sc, join color 1 to next sc, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. (16sc)


Next Row - (Dec Row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last 3sc, dec 1sc over next 2sc, 1sc in last sc. Turn. (15sc)


Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Rpt last 2 rows twice.


Next Row - (dec row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last 3sc, dec 1sc over next 2sc, 1sc in last sc. Turn. Fasten off. (12sc)


Join shoulder seams.


Sleeves x 2 - With 4.50mm hook and color 1, ch9, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (8sc)


Rib - Working in back loop of stitch only ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Rpt last row until 26 rows have been worked in all from beginning. Do not turn.


Working in row ends along side of rib ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each row end to last row end, 2sc in last row end. Turn. (28sc)


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Fasten off. Turn.


Next Row - Join in color 2, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


[ Increase Row - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last sc, 2sc in last sc. Turn.


Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. Rpt last row once. ]


Fasten off.


Join in color 1 and rpt from [ to ] until you have 44sc and 27 rows from rib, work should measure approx 6.5 Inches from beginning. Turn. Fasten off.


Buttonhole/button Bands - With 4.00mm hook, color 2 and RS facing, starting at lower front edge on right hand side of opening, work 13sc evenly along to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each of next 4sc, 8sc up side of neck, 1sc in each of next 20sc along back, 8sc down side of neck, 1sc in each of next 4sc, 3sc in corner, 13sc evenly down front edge to end. Turn.


Buttonhole Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 3sc, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in next 8sc, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in corner, 1sc in each sc around neck to next corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each sc down second front edge. Turn. (2 buttonholes made)


Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to neck edge. Fasten off.


Return to opposite front edge using color 2, RS facing and working from neck downwards ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each ch2 space and sc to end. Fasten off.


Finishing - Working on wrong side of sweater, fold sleeves in half lengthways, place centre to shoulder seams and over sew in position. Over sew side and sleeve seams together. Weave in any loose ends of yarn, attach buttons to correspond with buttonholes.
