GAUGE - 4dc and 2 rows of pattern measures approx 1” using 5.00mm hook

With 6.00mm hook ch159, change to 5.00mm hook, work 5dc group (see abbrev) in 6th from hook, * skip ch2, 1dc in next ch, skip ch2, 5dc group in next ch, * rpt from * to * to last ch3, skip ch2, 1dc in last ch. Turn. (26, 5dc groups)

Pattern Row - ch3, * skip 2dc, 5dc in centre dc of next 5dc group, skip 2dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, working last dc in top of 5ch. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Row working last dc into top of ch3 until 62 rows have been worked. Turn.

Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * ch2, skip 2dc, 1sc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, working last sc in top of ch3. Turn. (52, ch2 spaces)

Edging - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, * 2sc in ch2 space, 1sc in sc, * rpt from * to * to last sc, 3sc in last sc, work 2sc in each row end down first side of shawl to next corner, 3sc in corner, rpt from * to * along cast on edge (working in base of dc's not sc's) to next corner, 3sc in corner, work 2sc in each row end up second side of shawl to last corner, 1sc in base of ch1, sl st to first sc. Turn.

Row 2 - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc around four sides of shawl, working 3sc in each corner, on the end of the row work 1sc in base of ch1 and sl st to first sc on the beginning of row. Turn.

Row 3 - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each sc around four sides of shawl, working 3dc in each corner, 1dc in base of ch3, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.

Cluster Row - ch1, (1sc, ch4, 1cl) in base of ch1, * skip 2dc, (1sc, ch4, 1cl) in next dc, * rpt from * to * around four sides to last 2dc, skip last 2dc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off. (see abbrev for cl stitch)

Finishing - Weave in any loose ends of yarn, decorate with ribbon if required.
