Materials

50 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in White (001) main colour


20 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in Pebble (221 ) contrast


4.00mm crochet hook

0.75cm (approx) of 6mm Ribbon


TENSION - 5tr & 2.5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Bonnet - (Made in rounds without turning for first 4 rows) - With Main Colour yarn make magic circle, using 4.00mm hook (RS) work 3ch, 19tr into circle, close circle by pulling loose thread, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. (19tr + 3ch)


Round 2 - 4ch, * 1tr into next tr, 1ch, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to 3rd of 4ch at start of row. (19tr, 20ch, 1ch spaces + 3ch)


Round 3 - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, * 1tr into 1ch space, 1tr into tr, 1tr into 1ch space, 2tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last ch space, tr and ch space, 1tr into ch space, tr and ch space, ss to top of 3ch. (49tr + 3ch)


Round 4 - Working into back of loop only, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 1tr, * 5tr into next tr, miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 1tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr, turn leaving last tr un-worked. (12, 5tr groups)


Pattern Row 1 - 4ch, * 2tr into centre tr of 5tr group, 1ch, 1tr into dc, 1ch * rpt from * to * to end, working 1tr into last dc. Turn. (12, 2tr groups)

 

Pattern Row 2 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch * miss 1ch and 1tr, 5tr into space between missed tr and next tr, miss 1ch, 1dc into next tr, * rpt from * to * to 4ch to turn with, 1dc into 3rd of 4ch. Turn.

 

Pattern Rows 1 & 2 form the pattern, rpt both rows until six 5tr group rows have been worked in all or work is approx 5.5 inches from crown. Fasten off. Turn.


Front Edge - Working into front of loop only, make 2ch, * miss 1tr, 1dc into each of next 3tr, miss 1tr, 1htr into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 1htr into last dc. Turn. (48st + 2ch)


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end, 1dc into top of 2ch. (49dc)


With RS facing, starting with 3ch, work 38tr evenly into row ends along neck edge. Fasten off.


Front Frill - With crown of bonnet towards you and using contrast colour yarn, miss tr's from neck edge and return to loose loops on front of bonnet, (these were created when you worked into front loop on Front Edge row) work 4ch into first dc, * 2tr into centre tr of 5tr group, 1ch, 1tr into dc, 1ch * rpt from * to * to end, working 1tr into last dc. Turn. (12, 2tr groups)


Next Row - With front of bonnet towards you make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch

* miss 1ch and 1tr, 7tr into space between missed tr and next tr, miss 1ch, 1dc into next tr, * rpt from * to * to 4ch to turn with, 1dc into 3rd of 4ch. Turn. Fasten off.


Picot Row - With main colour yarn work 1ch, ss into base of 1ch, * 1dc into each of next 4tr, 3ch, ss into 1st ch (picot made), 1dc into each of next 3tr, ss into dc,

* rpt from * to * to end. Fasten off.


Back frill - With contrast colour yarn, return to loose loops on crown, With RS

and crown facing towards you, miss tr's from neck edge and rejoin yarn to top of 3ch, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 1tr, * 5tr into next tr, miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 1tr, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn. (13, 5tr groups)


Picot Row - With main colour yarn, work 1ch, ss into base of 1ch, * 1dc into each of next 3tr, 3ch, ss into 1st ch (picot made), 1dc into each of next 2tr, ss into dc,

* rpt from * to * to end, ss to ss on beginning of row. Fasten off.


Finishing - Weave in loose ends of yarn, thread ribbon through alternate tr's around neck edge and tie with a bow.


Can be put with FJC33 (click link to see pattern) to make a set.
