100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in Pebble (221 ) colour 2

4.00mm crochet hook

1 meter of 6mm ribbon (approx)

3 medium buttons


TENSION - 5tr & 2.5 rows measures approx 1 inch

Start with Yoke (worked in one piece) -

Using 4.00mm hook and colour 1 yarn, make 57ch, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr in each ch to end. Turn. (54tr + 3ch).

 

2nd Row - (Inc) 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of the next 3tr,

* rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (67tr + 3ch)


3rd Row - 3ch, 1tr in each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.  (67tr + 3ch)

 

4th Row - (Inc) 3ch, 1tr into next tr, * 2tr into next tr, 1tr into each of the next 2tr,

* rpt from * to * to last 2tr and 3ch, 2tr into next tr, 1tr into last tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. Fasten off. (89tr + 3ch)


5th Row - Join in colour 2 and work as 3rd row. Fasten off.

 

6th Row - (Inc) Using colour 1 work as 4th row. (118tr + 3ch)

 

7th Row - as 3rd Row.

 

8th Row - (Inc) as 4th row. (157tr + 3ch)

 

9th Row - as 3rd Row. Fasten off.


10th Row - (Divide for Armholes) - Using colour 2 make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 25tr, miss 25tr, (first armhole) 1dc into each of next 56tr, miss 25tr, (second armhole) 1dc into each of next 25tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. (108dc)


Commence Skirt - With RS facing make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, 5tr in next dc, miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc, miss 1dc,

5tr into next dc, work 1dc into last dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row to make a round and form the skirt. Turn. (27, 5tr groups).

 

Row 1 - 4ch, * 2tr into centre tr of 5tr group, 1ch, 1tr into dc, 1ch * rpt from

* to * to last 5tr group, 2tr into centre of tr of 5tr, 1ch, ss to 3rd of 4ch. Turn.

(27, 2tr groups)

 

Row 2 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch * miss 1ch and 1tr, 5tr into space between missed tr and next tr, miss 1ch, 1dc into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 1ch, 2tr and 1ch, miss 1ch and 1tr, work 5tr into space between missed tr and next tr, miss 1ch, ss to first dc. Turn.

 

Rows 1 & 2 form the pattern, rpt 6 more times until 15 rows have been worked in all from yoke or work measures approx 10.5 inches from shoulder. Fasten off. Turn.

 

Re-join colour 1 to first stitch, rpt Rows 1 & 2 once. Fasten off. Join in colour 2 and rpt Rows 1 & 2 once. Fasten off.   Turn.


Sleeves x 2 - join yarn to side of dc under arm, make 3ch, 1tr into each of next 25tr, 1tr into side of dc on opposite side of sleeve, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.  (26tr + 3ch)


Button/Buttonhole Bands - With RS facing rejoin colour 1 to base of right hand side on back edge, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 17 more dc evenly into row ends to neck edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch around neck, 3dc into corner, 18dc evenly into row ends down second back edge. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to corner, 1dc into corner. Fasten off. (20dc)


Buttonhole Row - Return to first back edge and starting from corner and working from neck downwards, with WS facing work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of next 6dc, * rpt from * to * 2 more times, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of the remaining dc. Fasten off. (3 buttonholes made)


Flower Motif - (Made in continuous rounds without turning) With colour 1 yarn make a magic circle, work 1ch, 12dc into circle, close circle pulling loose thread, ss to first dc on beginning of row. (12dc)


Next Row - Working into front loop of stitch only make 3ch, work 2tr into base of 3ch, 3tr into each dc to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.

(35tr + 3ch)


Using colour 2 and working behind last row into back loops of dc work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each loose loop to end, ss to first dc.


Next Row - 1ch (1dc, 1tr, 3dtr, 1tr, 1dc) into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, (1dc, 1tr, 3dtr, 1tr, 1dc) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, miss last dc, ss to first dc. Fasten off. (6 petals)


Finishing - Weave in loose ends of yarn, sew buttons to correspond with buttonholes, attach flower motif to yoke, thread ribbon through alternate tr's on

last row of yoke and tie in a bow.
