TENSION - 5dc and 6 rows measure approx 1 Inch using 4.00mm hook

Back - (Starting with rib) Using 5.00mm hook and colour 1 make 54ch, change to 4.00mm hook work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, (WS) 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. Fasten off. (51tr + 3ch)


Next Row - With colour 2, make 3ch, * 1fptr around next tr, 1bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (see abbrev for fptr & bptr)


Rpt last row once. Fasten off. Join in colour 1 and rpt last row once. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1tr, 2dc into next tr, * rpt from * to * to 3ch to turn with, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn. (52dc)


Pattern Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, 2dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn.


Rpt Pattern Row until 48 rows have been worked from rib or work measures approx 11 inches from beginning. Fasten off.


First Front - # With 5.00mm hook and colour 1, make 24ch, change to 4.00mm hook, work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. Fasten off. (21tr + 3ch)

 

Next Row - With colour 2, make 3ch, * 1fptr around next tr, 1bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Sleeves x 2 - With 5.00mm hook and colour 1, make 30ch, change to 4.00mm hook, work 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to end. Turn. Fasten off. (27tr + 3ch)

 

Next Row - With colour 2, make 3ch * 1fptr around next tr, 1bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (27tr + 3ch).


Rpt last row once. Fasten off. Join in colour 1 and rpt last row once. Turn.

Increase Row  - 1ch, 2dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, 2dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 2dc into last dc. Turn. (30dc)

Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, 2dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn.


Rpt last 4 rows until 44dc remain. Turn.

 

Rpt Pattern Row without further shaping until 23 Pattern Rows have been worked from rib or sleeve seam measures approx 6.3 Inches from beginning. Fasten off.

 

Using 5.00mm hook slip stitch shoulder seams together or over sew with needle and yarn.

 

Right and Left Front Bands

With RS facing, colour 1, 4.00mm hook, working into row ends and starting at lower edge of right hand front make 1ch, work 42dc evenly along first front edge to neck, 3dc into corner, 16dc evenly along first neck edge to shoulder, 1dc into each of next 28dc across back, 16dc evenly along second neck edge, 3dc into corner, work 42dc evenly along into row ends down second front edge. Turn.

 

2nd Row - 3ch, 1tr into each of next 43dc to corner. Turn. (43tr + 3ch)

 

3rd Row - 3ch, * 1fptr around next tr, 1bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Fasten off.


Return to opposite side and with WS facing working from neck downwards rejoin colour 1 to centre dc of 3dc, work 2nd and 3rd rows same as for first front border. Fasten off. (43tr +3ch)


Hood - With colour 1 and 5.00mm hook, make 80ch, change to 4.00mm hook, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, * miss 1ch, 2dc into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch, miss 1ch, 1dc into last ch. Turn. (78dc)


Rpt Pattern Row until 24 rows have been worked in all from beginning or work measures approx 5 inches. Fasten off.


Join in colour 2, rpt Pattern Row three times. Turn. Fasten off. Join in colour 1 and rpt Pattern Row twice. Fasten off.


Finishing - Fold hood in half and over sew or slip stitch cast on edge together, with RS facing and colour 1 work 60dc evenly along neck edge. Fasten off.


Working on wrong side of jacket, fold sleeves in half lengthways, place centre to shoulder seams and slip stitch or over sew into position, slip stitch or over sew side and sleeve seams together.


With WS facing and missing front bands from both sides of the fronts, attach hood to jacket by slip stitching or over sewing through each of the 60dc on neck edge of jacket and each of the 60dc on neck edge of hood. Fasten off.


Weave in loose ends of yarn, turn through to RS, attach buttons evenly down button band and use gaps between tr's for buttonholes.
