TENSION - 4tr and 2 rows of pattern measures approx 1 Inch

V Neck Cardigan


Back - (Rib) Make 5ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. (4dc)

 

Next Row - Working in to back loop of stitch only make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.


Rpt last row until 41 rows have been worked in all from beginning. DNT at the end of row 41.

 

Working along the side of the work make 3ch, work 1tr into each of next 40 row ends. Turn. (40tr + 3ch)


Next Row - 3ch, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.


Rpt last row until 19 rows have been worked in all or work measures approx 8.5 Inches in all. Fasten off.

 

Left Front - (Rib) Make 5ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. (4dc)

 

Next Row - Working in to back loop of stitch only make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.


Rpt last row until 18 rows have been worked in all from beginning. DNT at the end of row 18.

 

Working along the side of the work make 3ch, 1tr into each of next 3 row ends, make 1ch, miss 1 row end, tr4tog into next row end, make 1ch, miss 1 row end, 1tr into each of next 11 row ends. Turn.


Pattern Row 1 - 3ch, 1tr into each of next 10tr, 1tr into next 1ch space, 1tr into top of tr4tog, 1tr into 1ch space, 1tr into next 3tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (17tr + 3ch).


Pattern Row 2 - make 3ch, 1tr into next 3tr, 1ch, miss 1tr, tr4tog into next tr, 1ch, miss 1tr, 1tr into each of next 10tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

 

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until 11 rows have been worked in all or six tr4tog have been made. Turn.  

 

Shape V - 3ch, dec 1tr over next 2tr, (see abbrev) continue with Pattern Row 1 to end. Turn.

 

Next Row - Work Pattern Row 2 to last 2tr and 3ch, dec 1tr over next 2tr, work 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.


Working pattern rows as set, dec 1 stitch at neck edge same as last two rows on the next 5 rows. Turn. (10tr + 3ch)


Continue without dec until 19 rows have been worked or front measures same as back. Fasten off.

 

Right Front - (Rib) Make 5ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. (4dc)

 

Next Row - Working in to back loop of stitch only make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Rpt last 2 rows until 11 rows have been worked in all or six tr4tog have been made. Turn.

 

Shape V - Work pattern row as set to last 2tr and 3ch, dec 1tr over next 2tr, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

 

Next row - 3ch, dec 1tr over next 2tr, work pattern row to end. Turn.


Working pattern rows as set dec1 tr at neck edge on next 5 rows. (10tr + 3ch)  

 

Continue without dec until 19 rows have been worked or front measures same as back. Fasten off.

 

Sleeves x 2 - (Rib) Make 5ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. (4dc)

 

Next Row - Working in to back loop of stitch only make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.


Rpt last row until 25 rows have been worked in all from beginning. DNT.

 

Working along the side of the work (Inc Row) make 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each tr to 3ch to turn with, work 2tr into top of 3ch. (26tr + 3ch).

 

Next Row - (Inc Row) 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each tr to 3ch to turn with, work 2tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

 

Rpt last row until 36tr + 3ch remain.


Continue without shaping until sleeve seam measures approx 5 Inches from beginning or 10 rows have been worked from beginning. Fasten off.

 

Join shoulder seams, fold sleeves in half lengthways, then placing folds to shoulder seams sew sleeves into position. Join side and sleeve seams.

 

Front Edging - With RS facing and starting at lower edge of right hand front as worn, work 25dc evenly up right front to base of V, 3dc into base of V, work 16dc evenly along V to shoulder, 1dc into each dc along neck edge, 16dc evenly along second V, 3dc into corner, work 25dc evenly down left front. Turn.


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work one more row of 1dc into each dc, working 3dc into corners. Turn.

 

Next Row - (Buttonholes) Work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 3dc, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next 6dc, * rpt from * to * twice, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 3dc into corner at base of V, 1dc into each dc around neck, 3dc into base of V, 1dc into remaining dc. Turn. (4 buttonholes made)


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to bottom of V, ss into each dc around neck to bottom of second V, 1dc into each dc and 2ch spaces to end. Fasten off.

 

Finishing - Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn. Sew on buttons.
