160 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in colour 1

70 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in each of the colours 2 & 3

4.00mm & 4.50mm crochet hooks, 5 Medium buttons


TENSION - 5tr and 2.5 rows measures approx 1 Inch using 4.50mm hook

Coat - Worked in one piece, starting with yoke.


Using 4.50mm hook and colour 1 make 55ch, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into the next 5ch’s (Front), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 8ch’s (shoulder), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 19ch’s (Back), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 8ch’s. (shoulder), 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 7ch’s (Front). Turn. (60tr + 3ch)


2nd Row - (Inc Row) Working into back loop of stitch for this row make 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to next 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into centre tr of 3tr group, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into centre tr of 3tr group, 1tr into each tr to end, work 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (68tr + 3ch)


3rd to 7th Row - rpt 2nd Row. Turn. (108tr + 3ch)


8th Row - (Divide for Armholes) - Working through both loops of stitch from now on, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dc into each tr to next 3tr group, 1dc into next tr, 2dc into centre tr of 3tr group, 1ch, miss 22tr, 2dc into centre tr of next 3tr group, rpt from * to * once, 1dc into each tr to end, 1dc into top of 3ch, Turn. (69dc + 2, 1ch spaces)


9th Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc and 1ch space to end. Turn. (71dc)


Commence Skirt

Pattern Row 1 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * tr2tog (see abbrev) into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (35 tr2tog)


Pattern Rows 2 to 4 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn.


Rpt Pattern Rows 1 to 4 three more times. Fasten off. Turn.


Join in colour 2 and rpt Pattern Row 1. Fasten off. Turn.


Join in colour 1 and rpt Pattern Rows 2 to 4. Fasten off. Turn.


Join in colour 3 and rpt Pattern Row 1. Fasten off. Turn.


Join in colour 1 and rpt Pattern Rows 2 to 4. Turn.


Rpt Pattern Row 1. Fasten off.


Sleeves x 2 - Join colour 1 to side of dc under arm, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 22tr, 1dc into side of dc on opposite side of sleeve, ss to first dc on beginning of row. (24dc)


Row 2 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.


Row 3 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * tr2tog into next dc, 1dc into next dc,

* rpt from * to * to last dc, tr2tog in dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (12, tr2tog)


Rows 4 to 6 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt Rows 3 to 6 once. Fasten off. Turn.


Row 11 - Join in colour 2 and rpt Row 3. Fasten off. Turn.


Row 12 to 14 - Join in colour 1 and rpt Rows 4 to 6. Fasten off. Turn.


Row 15 - Join in colour 3 and rpt Row 3. Fasten off. Turn.


Row 16 to 18 - Join in colour 1 and rpt Rows 4 to 6. Turn.


Row 19 - Rpt Row 3. Turn. Fasten off.


Cuff - Rpt Row 2 working into tr2tog and dc's. Fasten off.


Button/Buttonhole Bands - With RS facing, join colour 1 to lower edge of right hand side of front edge, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 37dc evenly into row ends up first front edge to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch around neck to next corner, 3dc into corner, work 37dc evenly into row ends down second front edge to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each st along bottom of coat to next corner, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.


Button Band - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc along bottom edge to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc along to neck edge. Turn.


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end. Turn. Rpt last row twice. Fasten off.


Buttonhole Band - Return to first front edge and join colour 1 to neck edge, working from neck edge downwards to corner, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.


Buttonhole Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 2dc, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of next 8dc, * rpt from * to * 3 more times, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn.


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each 2ch space and dc to end. Turn.


Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off.


Finishing - Close small gap under arms, weave in any loose ends of yarn, attach buttons to correspond with buttonholes.


Pants - Using 4.50mm hook and colour 2, make 92ch, ss to first ch to form a ring, change to 4.00mm hook, 2ch, (RS) 1tr into base of 2ch, 1tr in each ch to end, ss to top of first tr on beginning of row. Turn. (92tr)


Row Two - Working into back loop of stitch from now on, make 2ch, 1tr into base of 2ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to top of first tr on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt Row Two twice. Fasten off.


Join in colour 3, rpt Row Two for four rows. Fasten off


Rpt Row Two alternating colours 2 and 3 every four rows until 16 rows have been worked or work measures approx 6.5 Inches from beginning. Turn.


Divide for legs - Join in colour 2 and make 2ch, 1tr into base of 2ch, 1tr into each of next 45tr, ss to top of first tr on beginning of row, turn leaving remaining 46tr un-worked


Rpt Row Two alternating colours 2 and 3 every four rows until 16 rows have been worked from division. Turn. Fasten off.


Working through both loops of stitch join in colour 2 and starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work two rows in dc. Fasten off.


Inside leg measures approx 7.5 Inches


Second Leg - Return to un-worked 46tr at division, join colour 2 to next tr, make 2ch, 1tr into base of 2ch, continue in the same way as first leg.


Waist Band - With colour 2, RS of work facing, starting with 1ch and 1dc into base of 1ch, work 92dc evenly along cast on edge at waist to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. Rpt last row by working 1dc into each dc to end and ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off.


Chain Tie - With 4.00mm hook and using colour 1, make 130ch. Fasten off.


Finishing - Close small gap on crotch, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim. Thread chain tie through alternate tr's on waist, make 2 small pom-poms in colour 1, I used the Clover Pom Pom maker size 25 and attach to each end of each tie.


Hat - With 4.50mm hook and colour 1 make 72ch, ss to first ch to form a ring, change to 4.00mm hook, 2ch, 1tr into base of 2ch, 1tr into each ch to end, ss to to first tr on beginning of row. Turn. (72tr)


Next Row - Working into back loop of stitch make 2ch, 1tr into base of 2ch, 1tr into each tr to end, ss to first tr on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt last row until 13 rows have been worked or work measures approx 5.5 Inches. Turn.


Brim - Working into back loop of stitch make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.


Second Row - Working through both loops from now on make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt Second Row once. Fasten off.


Fourth Row - Join in colour 3, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * tr2tog into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, tr2tog in dc, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn.


Fifth to Seventh Rows - Join in colour 1 and make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn.


Eighth Row - Join in colour 2, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * tr2tog into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn.


Join in colour 1 and starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each st to end, ss to first dc. Turn. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Using colours 2 and 3 together make 2 small sized pom-poms.

I used Clover Pom Pom maker size 45


Finishing - With WS facing centre ss seam to back of hat, using 4.50mm hook ss cast on edge (top of hat) together to close open gap. Weave in any loose ends of yarn and turn through to right side, fold brim onto front of hat, attach one Pom-Pom to each corner and secure tightly.
