GAUGE - 1.5 Shell groups and 2 rows measures approx 1” using 5.00mm hook

With 6.00mm hook ch157, change to 5.00mm, work (3dc, ch1, 1dc) in 4th ch

from hook, * skip 3ch's, (3dc, ch1, 1dc) in next ch, * rpt from * to * to last ch, 1dc

in last ch. Turn (39 Shell Groups).

Pattern Row - ch3, * (3dc, ch1, 1dc) in next ch1 space, skip 3dc, * rpt from

* to * to end, skip 3dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt last row 77 more times, making 79 rows in all or until work measures approx 40 Inches from beginning. Turn.

Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in next ch1 space, * ch3, 1sc in next

ch1 space, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc and ch3 to turn with, ch2, 1sc in top of

ch3. Turn.

Border - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in next ch2 space, 1sc in sc, * 3sc in ch3 space, 1sc in sc, * rpt from * to * along, to last sc, 3sc in last sc, working down side of shawl, work 2sc in each row end to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in next ch,

rpt from * to * along cast on edge to corner, 3sc in corner, working up side of shawl, work 2sc in each row end to corner, 1sc in corner, sl st to first sc. Turn.

Row 2 - Starting with ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc around all

sides working 3sc in corners and sl st to first sc on the end of the row. Turn.

Row 3 - ch3, 1dc in each sc around all sides working 3dc in corners. Turn.

Row 4 - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * ch2, skip 2dc, work 1sc in next dc, * rpt from

* to * to around to end, ch2, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.

(to get a ch2 space over the corners you may need to skip 1dc instead of 2)

Row 5 - ch1, * (1sc, 3dc, 1sc) in ch2 space, skip 1sc, *  rpt from * to * around to end, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Finishing - Weave in ends.
