Materials
100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK yarn in main color
25 grams of Stylecraft Special DK yarn in each of the 5 contrast colors
4.00mm crochet hook, 5 Buttons
TENSION - 4tr and 3 rows of pattern measures approx 1 Inch

Back - With main colour, make 46ch, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each ch to
end. Turn. (43tr + 3ch)
Rib Row - 3ch, * fptr around next tr, bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to end,
1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. (see abbrev for fptr & bptr)
Rpt Rib Row twice more.
Next Row - (RS) Make 3ch, work 1tr into each stitch to last tr and 3ch, miss tr,
1tr into top of 3ch. Turn. Fasten off. (42tr + 3ch)
Pattern Rows
Change to contrast colour. (rows 1 to 3)
Row 1 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dtr (see abbrev) into next tr, 1dc into next
tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr and 3ch to turn with, 1dtr into tr, 1dc into top
of 3ch. Turn. (21dtr)
Row 2 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn. (43dc)
Row 3 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dtr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from
* to * to end. Turn. Fasten off.
Change to main colour. (rows 4 to 6)
Row 4 - 3ch, 1tr into each stitch to end. Turn. (42tr + 3ch)
Row 5 - Rpt Pattern Row 2.
Row 6 - Rpt Pattern Row 4. Fasten off.
Rpt Pattern Rows 1 to 6 four more times until work measures approx 11.5 inches from
beginning. Fasten off.
Left Front - # With main colour, make 22ch, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each
ch to end. Turn. (19tr + 3ch)
Rib Row - 3ch, * fptr around next tr, bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to end,
1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.
Rpt Rib Row twice more.
Next Row - Make 3ch, work 1tr into each stitch to last tr and 3ch, miss tr, 1tr into
top of 3ch. Turn. Fasten off. (18tr + 3ch)
Rpt Pattern Rows 1 to 6 from back four times or until work measures 9 Inches from
beginning. Turn. #
Shape Neck - Miss 4tr, join in contrast colour yarn to next tr, 1ch, 1dc into base
of 1ch, * 1dtr into next tr, 1dc into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last tr and 3ch
to turn with, 1dtr into tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn. (7dtr)
Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn. (15dc)
Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dtr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt
from * to * to end. Turn. Fasten off.
Change to main colour.
Next Row - (Dec Row) 3ch, 1tr into each of next 11st, dec 1tr (see abbrev) over next

Right Front - Work same as Left from # to #
Shape Neck - Join in contrast colour, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dtr into

leaving the 3tr and 3ch un-worked. (7dtr)
Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn. (15dc)
Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dtr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt
from * to * to last 2dc, 1dtr into next dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn. Fasten off.
Change to main colour.
Next Row - (Dec Row) 3ch, dec 1tr over next 2st, 1tr into each of next 12st. Turn.
(13tr + 3ch)
Next Row - (Dec Row) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr to last 2tr and
3ch to turn, dec 1dc over next 2tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn. (13dc)
Next Row - (Dec Row) 3ch, dec 1tr over next 2dc, 1tr into each of next 10dc. (11tr
+ 3ch) Fasten off.
Whipstitch or ss shoulder seams together.
Sleeves x 2 - With main colour, make 30ch, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into each
ch to end. Turn. (27tr + 3ch)
Rib Row - 3ch, * fptr around next tr, bptr around next tr, * rpt from * to * to end,
1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.
Rpt Rib Row twice more.
Next Row - (Inc Row) 3ch, 1tr into each tr to 3ch to turn with, 2tr into top of 3ch.
Turn. Fasten off. (28tr + 3ch)
Change to contrast colour.
First Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dtr into next tr, 1dc into next tr, * rpt
from * to * to last tr and 3ch to turn with, 1dtr into tr, 1dc into top of 3ch. Turn.
Second Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn.
Third Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dtr into next dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt
from * to * to last 2dc, 1dtr into next dc, 1dc into last dc. Turn. Fasten off.
Change to main colour.
Fourth Row - (Inc Row) 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, 1tr into each stitch to last dc,
2tr into dc. Turn.
Fifth Row - Rpt Second Row.
Sixth Row - Rpt Fourth Row. Fasten off.
Rpt First to Sixth Rows twice more until you have 40tr + 3ch remaining or sleeve
measures approx 7.5 Inches in all from beginning. Fasten off.
Attaching Sleeves - Fold sleeves in half lengthways, place centre to shoulder seams
(see picture below) and whipstitch into position (or you can ss if you prefer)
Button/Buttonhole Bands - With RS of work facing and using main colour yarn, start
on lower edge of right hand front edge, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 41dc
evenly into row ends along first front edge, 3dc into corner, work 12dc evenly along
first neck edge to shoulder, 1dc into each of next 19dc across back, 12dc evenly
along second neck edge, 3dc into corner, work 42dc evenly into row ends down second
front edge. Turn.
Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 more row in dc around fronts and
neck edge of cardigan, working 3dc into the corners. Turn.
Next Row - (Buttonholes) 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 3dc, *
2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of next 9dc, * rpt from * to * 3 more times, 2ch, miss
1dc, 1dc into last dc on neck edge. Turn. (5 Buttonholes made)
Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each 2ch space and dc to end. Fasten
off.
Return to opposite front edge. Working with RS facing from neck downwards.
Button Band - Return to opposite front edge, RS facing and working from neck downwards,
make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end. Fasten off.
Finishing - Whipstitch side and sleeve seam together (see picture below) or ss if
you prefer. Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn. Turn through to RS. Sew
on buttons to correspond with buttonholes
