60 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in Colour 1
Oddment of Stylecraft Special DK in Colour 2
4.00mm & 4.50mm crochet hooks, 3 buttons
TENSION - 4.5tr and 2.5 rows measures approx 1 Inch on 4.00mm hook

Worked in one piece starting with yoke.
Using colour 1, make 47ch, (RS) 1tr into 4th ch from hook, 1tr into the next 4ch,
(front) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into next 7ch, (shoulder) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into
the next 15ch, (back) 3tr into next ch, 1tr into the next 7ch, (shoulder) 3tr into
next ch, 1tr into the next 6ch. (front) Turn. (52tr + 3ch)
Rows 2 to 7 - Make 3ch, * 1tr into each tr to 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr into
centre tr on 3tr group, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr group, 1tr into next tr, 3tr
into centre tr on 3tr group, 1tr into each tr to end, 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.
You should have 100tr + 3ch at the end of Row 7.
Row 8 - (Divide for Armholes) Make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next
12tr, 2dc, 1ch into next tr, miss 21tr, 2dc into next tr, 1dc into each of next 29tr,
2dc, 1ch into next tr, miss 21tr, 2dc into next tr, 1dc into each tr to end, 1dc
into top of 3ch. Turn. (63dc + 2, 1ch spaces)
Row 9 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc and 1ch space to end. Turn. (65dc)
Change to 4.50mm hook.
Commence Skirt - 3ch, miss 1dc, (1ps, 1ch, 1ps) into next dc, * miss 2dc, (1ps, 1ch,
1ps) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, miss 1dc, 1tr into last dc. Turn.
(21ps groups)
Pattern Row - 3ch, (1ps, 1ch, 1ps) into 1ch space on each ps group to end, 1tr into
top of 3ch. Turn.
Rpt Pattern Row until 6 rows have been worked or work measures approx 7.5 Inches
from shoulder. Fasten off. Turn.
Rpt Pattern Row once in colour 2. Fasten off.
Sleeves x 2 - With WS facing and 4.50mm hook, join colour 1 to centre tr of 3tr underarm,
make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each of next 21tr, 1dc into centre tr of
3tr on opposite side of sleeve, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. (23dc)
2nd Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning
of row. Turn.
3rd Row - 3ch, miss 1dc, (1ps, 1ch, 1ps) into next dc, * miss 2dc, (1ps, 1ch, 1ps)
into next dc * rpt from * to * to last 2dc, miss 1dc, 1tr into next dc, ss to top
of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn. (7ps, 1tr + 3ch)
4th Row - ss to first 1ch space, 3ch, (1ps, 1ch, 1ps) into same space, work (1ps,
1ch, 1ps) into 1ch space on each ps group to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of
row. Turn.
Rpt 4th Row twice. Fasten off.
Join in colour 2 and rpt 4th Row once. Fasten off.
Button/buttonholes Bands - With 4.00mm hook, join colour 1 to bottom of right hand
front edge, work 30dc evenly up first front edge to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc
into each ch around neck, 3dc into corner, work 30dc evenly down second front edge
to end. Turn.
Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to corner. Turn.
Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1 more row of 1dc into each dc to end.
Fasten off.
Buttonhole Row - Working from neck downwards, join colour 1 to first dc on opposite
front edge, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of next
5dc, * rpt from * to * once, make 2ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into each of remaining dc. Turn.
Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1dc, work 1dc into each dc and 2ch space to end.
Fasten off. Turn.
Next Row - Join in colour 2, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc up
first front edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each row end along the top of button
band, 1dc into each dc around neck and into row ends along the top of buttonhole
band, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each dc down second front edge to end. Fasten off.
Finishing - Close small gaps underarm, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim off,
attach buttons to correspond with buttonholes.
