Abbreviations

ch.       Chain

htr.      Half Treble Crochet

rpt.      Repeat

ss.       Slip Stitch

DNT.   Do Not Turn.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

Size to fit approx:

4-5lb Preemie baby

Materials

40 grams of Stylecraft Special DK

4.50mm crochet hook

TENSION - 6htr and 3 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Make 36ch, 1htr into 2nd ch from hook, 1htr into each ch to end. Turn. (35htr)

Pattern Row - Working through back loop of stitch throughout, make 1ch, 1htr into base of 1ch, 1htr into each htr to end. Turn.

Continue with Pattern Row until 31 rows have been worked in all. Turn.

Fold work in half from bottom to top, ss loosely the cast on edge and last row worked to make a round (you can use a larger hook if you want for this).

Chain Tie - Make 70ch. Fasten off.

Finishing - Weave in all loose ends of yarn and trim off, thread chain tie through alternate rows of stitches on hat approx 1 inch from top and tie in a bow, turn back bottom of hat onto main piece approx 1.5 inches or what you require for size of brim.
