Materials

60 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in Lilac (017) Colour 1

30 grams of King Cole Big Value Baby DK in Pink (006) Colour 2

5.00mm & 3.50mm crochet hooks

TENSION - 4htr and 3 rows measure approx 1 Inch using 5.00mm hook

Poncho

Front - With 5.00mm hook make 35ch, (RS) 1htr into 3rd ch from hook, 1htr into each of next 15ch's, 3htr into next ch, 1htr into each of next 16ch's. Turn. (35htr)

Pattern Row - 2ch, 1htr into base of 2ch, 1htr into each htr to 3htr group, 1htr into next htr, 3htr into centre htr on 3htr group, 1htr into each htr to end. Turn. (37htr)

Rpt Pattern Row until 14 rows have been worked in all. Fasten off. Turn. (61htr)

Join in colour 2 and rpt Pattern Row 3 more times. Fasten off. Turn. (67htr)

Rejoin colour 1 and rpt Pattern Row 6 more times. Fasten off. (79htr)

Back - Make same as the front. Fasten off.

With WS facing place back and fronts together, then over sew with a needle and yarn the shoulder seams together.

Chain Tie - With 5.00mm hook and colour 2 make 100ch. Fasten off.

Using colour 2 make 2 small pom pom's I used Clover pom pom maker size 25

Appliqué Flower - Made in rounds without turning, using colour 2 make a magic circle, with 3.50mm hook make 1ch, work 10dc into ring, pull loose yarn to close circle ss to first dc on beginning of row.

Round 2 - 1ch, 2dc into each dc to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. (20dc)

Round 3 - 6ch, 1tr into base of 6ch, * miss 1dc, (1tr, 3ch, 1tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, miss last dc, ss to 3rd of 6ch on beginning of row. (10, 3ch spaces)

Round 4 - 1ch, * (1dc, 1htr, 4tr, 1htr, 1dc) into next 3ch space, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Fasten off. (10 Groups)

Button Cover - With 3.50mm hook, make 8ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (7dc)

Work in dc on these stitches until you have 6 rows in all, fasten off leaving a length of yarn (to gather and attach to flower).

Thread yarn evenly all around four sides through dc's, place medium size button in center and gather around it tightly, secure so that button cannot break free.

Attach covered button over centre of the appliqué.

Finishing - Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn, thread chain tie through htr's around neck edge, attach a pom pom to each end, attach appliqué to front of poncho.
