Tr2tog.

Leaving last loop of each tr on hook,

work 2tr into next stitch,

yrh draw through all 3 loops.

Base of ch. Work into first stitch

2ch counts as first tr

(to avoid gaps forming along neck edge)

Size to fit approx:- 6-12 month baby

Materials

Small amount of King Cole big value baby DK in cream (046) colour 1

Small amount of King Cole big value baby DK in both colours 2 and 3

6.00mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks

1 Decorative button for flower centre (optional)

TENSION -

3, tr2tog and 3 rows of tr2tog measures 1” square using 4.00mm hook

With 6.00mm hook and colour 1, make 48ch loosely, change to 4.00mm hook, work tr2tog (see abbrev) into 3rd ch from hook, tr2tog into each of next 44ch, 1tr into last ch. Turn. (45, tr2tog, 1tr + 3ch )

Pattern Row - 2ch, tr2tog into each tr2tog to end, 1tr into top of 2ch. Turn.

Fasten off.

Work Pattern Row in colour sequence as follows:-

Twice in colour 2

Twice in colour 3

Twice in colour 1

Twice in colour 2

Twice in colour 3

You will have worked 12 rows in all or your work measures approx 6 inches from beginning. Fasten off.

Fold hat in half width ways, with WS facing using a 6.00mm hook, ss the cast on chain together loosely or over sew together using a needle and yarn. Fasten off.

Using 4.00mm hook re-join colour 3 to RS of neck edge with a ss, work 49 more ss evenly along to end. Turn. (50ss) Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each ss to end. (50dc) Fasten off.

Tie 1 - With 4.00mm hook and colour 3, make 60ch. Fasten off. (will come back

to later)

Tie 2 - Make 61ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, work 1ss into each of the next 59ch, join tie to hat with a ss to first dc on RS of neck edge, work 1ss into each of the next 49dc, ss in first ch of tie 1, work 1ss into each of the remaining 59ch.

Fasten off. (170ss)

Make 2 pom-pom's in colour of your choice.

I used Clover Pom-Pom maker size 25.

Finishing - Weave in loose ends of the ties to the hat, weave in all other loose ends, attach pom-pom to each tie end and make a bow.

Flower - With colour 2 make a magic circle, using 4.00mm hook (RS) work 3ch, 19tr into circle, close circle pulling loose thread, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. DNT. Fasten off. (19tr + 3ch)

Next Row - Join in colour 3 with a ss to first tr, work (3ch, 3tr, 3ch, ss) into same

tr, * miss 1tr, work (ss, 3ch, 3tr, 3ch, ss) into next tr, * rpt from * to * to end, miss last tr, ss to first ss. Fasten off. (10 Petals)

Finishing - Weave in any loose ends of yarn. Attach flower to hat. Placement and button in centre is your choice.
