Materials
Small amounts of Stylecraft Special DK Yarn in Colours 1 & 2
4.50mm & 4.00mm crochet hook
TENSION - 1 pattern rpt and 2.5 rows measures approx 1” using 4.00mm hook

Hat - With 4.50mm hook and colour 1 make 58ch, change to 4.00mm hook, work 2tr into
4th ch from hook, * miss 2ch, 1dc into next ch, miss 2ch, 3tr into next ch, work
(1ch, 1dc, 1htr, 1tr) around the post of the last tr made, * rpt from * to * to last
6ch, miss 2ch, 1dc into next ch, miss 2ch, 3tr into last ch. Turn.
Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 3tr, * 3tr into next dc, work (1ch, 1dc,
1htr, 1tr) around the post of the last tr made, miss 3st, 1dc into 1ch space, * rpt
from * to * to end, working last dc into top of 3ch. Turn.
Pattern Row 1 - 3ch, 2tr into base of 3ch, * miss 3st, 1dc into 1ch space, miss 2tr,
3tr into next dc, work (1ch, 1dc, 1htr, 1tr) around the post of the last tr made,
* rpt from * to * to last group and dc, miss 3st, 1dc into 1ch space, 3tr into last
dc. Turn.
Pattern Row 2 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, miss 3tr, * 3tr into next dc, work (1ch,
1dc, 1htr, 1tr) around the post of the last tr made, miss 3st, 1dc into 1ch space,
miss 2tr, * rpt from * to * to last dc, 3tr and 3ch, work 3tr into next dc, (1ch,
1dc, 1htr, 1tr) around the post of the last tr made, miss 3tr, 1dc into top of 3ch.
Turn.
Fasten off.
Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 twice in colour 2, twice in colour 1, twice in colour 2. Fasten
off.
Fold hat in half width ways, WS facing, colour 1 and using 4.50mm hook, ss loosely
through both sides of cast on ch's to close back seam. Fasten off.
Neck Edge Including Chain Ties - Using colour 1 make 60ch for first tie then working
on WS work 38dc evenly into row ends along neck edge to end, make 61ch for second
tie, ss into 2nd ch from hook, ss into each of next 59ch, work 1dc into each dc along
neck, ss into each of next 60ch. Fasten off.
Finishing - Weave in and trim all loose ends of yarn.
