50 grams of King Cole big value baby 4 ply in Color 1
Small amount of Baby 4ply in Color 2
OR
1.75 ozs of Sport weight in color 1
3.50mm crochet hook
8 buttons
GAUGE - 5dc and 3 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Diaper Cover - With color 1 ch68, (RS) work 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each
ch to end. Turn. (65dc + ch3)
2nd Row - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row until 10 rows have been worked from beginning. Fasten off. Turn.
Shape Crotch - Skip 23dc, join yarn to next dc, ch3, 1dc in each of next 19dc, turn
leaving remaining 22dc and ch3 to turn with un-worked. (19dc + ch3)
Decrease Row - ch3, dc2tog (see abbrev) over next 2dc, 1dc in each dc to last 2dc
and ch3, dc2tog over next 2dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (17dc + ch3)
Rpt Decrease Row until 13dc + ch3 remain. Turn.
Rpt 2nd Row once. Turn.
Rpt Decrease Row once (11dc + ch3)
Rpt 2nd Row four more times.
Increase Row - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, 2dc in top of ch3.
Turn. (13dc + ch3)
Rpt 2nd Row once. Turn.
Rpt Increase Row until you have 19dc + ch3 remaining. Fasten off. Turn. (19dc + ch3)
Front Flap - ch6, work 1dc in each of next 19dc, 1dc in top of ch3, ch8, work 1dc
in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each of next 4ch, 1dc in each of next 20dc, 1dc in each
of next 6ch. Turn. (31dc + ch3)
Rpt 2nd Row nine more times. Fasten off.
Border - With RS facing rejoin color 1 to cast on edge, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1,
1sc in each of next 64ch, 3sc in corner, 2sc in each row end, 3sc in corner, 1sc
in each of next 22dc, * work 2sc in next row end, 1sc in next row end, * rpt from
* to * to end of crotch, 1sc in each of next 5ch, 3sc in corner, 2sc in each row
end, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each of next 30dc, 3sc in corner, 2sc in each row end,
3sc in corner, 1sc in each of next 5ch, rpt from * to * to end of crotch, 1sc in
each of next 22dc, 3sc in corner, 2sc in each row end, 1sc in corner, sl st to first
sc on beginning of row. Turn.
Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc all around nappy cover to end,
working 3sc in corners, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Join in color 2 and rpt last row once. Fasten off.
Chain Tie - Using color 1, ch150. Fasten off.
Finishing - Weave in all loose ends of yarn, thread chain tie through alternate dc's
on waist and tie in a bow. Sew 3 buttons evenly down each side of main piece on cover,
fold flap over buttons and use gaps between dc's on front flap as buttonholes.
Hat - With color 1, ch6 and join with a sl st to form a ring, ch3, 13dc in ring,
join with sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.
Second Row - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3
on beginning of row. Turn. (27dc + ch3).
Third Row - ch3, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc,
2dc in dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (41dc + ch3).
Fourth Row - ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * rpt
from * to * to last dc, 2dc in dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.
(55dc + ch3)
Fifth Row - ch3, 1dc in each of next 6dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 7dc,
* rpt from * to * to last dc, 2dc in dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row.
Turn. (62dc + ch3)
Sixth Row - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt Sixth Row until 12 rows have been worked from beginning. Turn.
Thirteenth Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, sl st to first sc
on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn.
Join in color 2 and rpt Thirteenth Row once. Fasten off.
Finishing - Weave in all loose ends of yarn and trim. Attach 2 buttons to front of
hat for decoration.
