Matinee Coat Worked in one piece starting with the yoke -
Using 4.00mm hook and color 1 ch55, (RS) 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch
to end. Fasten off. Turn. (52dc + ch3)
Row Two - (Inc Row) Join in color 2, ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in
each of the next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc and ch3, 2dc in next dc, 1dc
in last dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (65dc + ch3)
Row Three - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.
Row Four - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of the next
3dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc and ch3, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc,
1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (81dc + ch3)
Row Five - as Row Three.

Row Nine - (Divide for Armholes) ch3, 1dc in each of next 22dc, skip 26dc, (armhole)
1dc in each of next 47dc, skip 26dc, (armhole) 1dc in each of next 22dc, 1dc in top
of ch3. Turn. (92dc + ch3)
Commence with Skirt - ch3, skip 1dc, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) (group) in next dc, * ch3, 1sc
in 3rd ch from hook (picot made), skip 3dc, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next dc, * rpt from
* to * to last dc and ch3, skip 1dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (23 groups)
Pattern Row - ch3, 1 group in ch1 space of next group, * ch3, 1sc in 3rd ch from

Rpt Pattern Row until 12 group rows have been worked in all or work measures approx
10.5 inches from shoulder. Fasten off.
Sleeves - With RS facing join yarn to side of dc underarm, ch3, 1dc in each of next
26dc around armhole, 1dc in side of dc on opposite side of sleeve, sl st to top of
ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.
Row 2 - ch3, skip 1dc, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next dc, * ch3, 1sc in 3rd ch from hook,
skip 3dc, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, skip 1dc, sl
st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (7 groups)
Row 3 - ch3, 1 group in ch1 space of next group, * ch3, 1sc in 3rd ch from hook,
1 group in ch1 space of next group, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3
at beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt Row 3 until 10 group rows have been worked in all or underarm seam measures approx
5 inches. Fasten off.
Button/Buttonhole Bands
With RS facing, join color 2 to lower edge of right hand side of front edge, ch1,
1sc in base of ch1, work 43sc evenly up front edge to corner. Turn.
Buttonhole Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in next 6sc * rpt
from * to * once, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in remaining sc. Fasten off. Turn. (3 Buttonholes
made)
Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work one more row of 1sc in each sc and ch2
space to end. Fasten off.
Button Band - Working from neck downwards, join color 2 to second front edge, ch1,
1sc in base of ch1, work 43sc evenly down front to corner. Turn.
Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work two more rows of 1sc in each sc to end.
Fasten off.
Beanie - (Made in rounds without turning throughout) With color 1, ch6 and join with
a sl st to form a ring, ch3, work 13dc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch3 on
beginning of row.
Second Row - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3
on beginning of row. (27dc + ch3)
Third Row - ch3, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc,
2dc in dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (41dc + ch3)
Fourth Row - ch3, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to
last dc, 2dc in dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. (55dc + ch3)
Fifth Row - ch3, 1dc in each of next 6dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 7dc,
* rpt from * to * to last dc, 2dc in dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row.

Sixth Row - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row.
Seventh Row - Same as Sixth Row. Fasten off.
Eighth to Tenth Rows - Join in color 2 and rpt Sixth Row. Fasten off.
Rows 11 & 12 - Join in color 1, work rows same as Row 6. Fasten off.
Boots x 2 - With color 1 ch24 loosely, sl st to first ch to make a ring (RS) ch3,
1dc in each ch to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row (23dc + ch3). Fasten
off. Turn.
Instep - Skip 8dc join color 2 to 9th dc, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of
next 7dc. Turn. (8sc).
Next row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 7sc. Turn. Rpt last row until
8 rows in all have been worked. Fasten off.
Shape Sole - With WS facing return to back seam where you casted off at ankle, (—–––
see picture below)
Join in color 1, ch3, 1dc in next 7dc along first half of ankle, 8dc evenly in row
ends along first side of instep, 1dc in each of next 8sc along toe, 8dc evenly in
row ends along second side of instep, 1dc in each of next 8dc along second half of
ankle, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (39dc + ch3)
2nd Row - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.
3rd Row - Working in front loop only, # ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to
end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (40sc)
4th Row (Dec Row) - Working through both loops from now on, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1,
dec 1sc (see abbrev) over next 2sc, 1sc in each of the next 15sc, dec 1sc over next
2sc, (twice), 1sc in next 15sc, dec 1sc over next 2sc, 1sc in last sc, sl st to first
sc on beginning of row. Turn.
5th Row - Rpt 3rd Row from #. (36sc)
6th Row (Dec Row) - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, dec 1sc over next 2sc, 1sc in each of
the next 13sc, dec 1sc over next 2sc, (twice), 1sc in next 13sc, dec 1sc over next
2sc, 1sc in last sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.
7th Row - Rpt 3rd Row from #. (32sc)
8th Row (Dec Row) - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, dec 1sc over next 2sc, (twice) 1sc in
each of the next 7sc, dec 1sc over next 2sc, (four times), 1sc in next 7sc, dec 1sc
over next 2sc, (twice) 1sc in last sc, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. (24sc).
Fasten off leaving length of yarn to close open gap with.
Top - Working along cast on edge and with WS facing, join color 1 to back seam, ch3,
skip 1dc, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in next dc, * ch3, 1sc in 3rd ch from hook, skip 3dc, (2dc,
ch1, 2dc) in next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, skip 1dc, sl st to top of ch3
on beginning of row. Turn. (6 groups)
Next Row - ch3, 1 group in ch1 space of next group, * ch3, 1sc in 3rd ch from hook,
1 group in ch1 space of next group, * rpt from * to * to end,
sl st to top of ch3 at beginning of row. Fasten off.
Rosebud x 4 - With color 1 ch15, work 2hdc in 3rd ch from hook, skip ch1, 3hdc in
next ch, (twice), skip ch1, 3dc in next ch, (three times), skip ch1, sl st in last
ch. Fasten off.
Roll from hdc to dc's to make Rosebud shape, secure at the back with loose ends of
yarn.
Finishing
Coat - Close small gaps under arm, weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn,
sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes, attach a rosebud to yoke.
Beanie - Weave in and trim off loose ends of yarn, attach a rosebud to color 2 stripe.
Boots - Over sew with needle and yarn the gap on the sole of the boot. weave in all
ends and trim. Turn through to RS, attach 1 rosebud to front of each boot.
