4ps and 2 rows of pattern measures approx 1 Inch using 4.00mm hook

Jacket -

Using color 1 and 5.00mm hook, ch44, change to 4.00mm hook, (WS) work 1ps (see abbrev) in 4th ch from hook, 1ps in each of next ch3, (front), (1dc, ch2, 1dc) in next ch, 1ps in each of next 8ch, (shoulder), (1dc, ch2, 1dc) in next ch, 1ps in each of next 12ch, (back), (1dc, ch2, 1dc) in next ch, 1ps in each of next 8ch, (shoulder), (1dc, ch2, 1dc) in next ch, 1ps in each of next 4ch, 1dc into last ch. Turn. (36ps, 9dc, 4, ch2 spaces + ch3)


Row 2 - ch3, * work 1dc in each st to next ch2 space (1dc, ch2, 1dc) in ch2 space * rpt from * to * to last ch2 space, (1dc, ch2, 1dc) in ch2 space, 1dc in each st to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (53dc, 4, ch2 spaces + ch3)


Row 3 - ch3, * work 1ps in each dc to ch2 space, (1dc, ch2, 1dc) in ch2 space, * rpt from * to * to last ch2 space, (1dc, ch2, 1dc) in ch2 space, 1ps in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.


Rpt Rows 2 & 3 until seven rows have been worked in all, you should have 93st, 4, ch2 spaces + ch3 at the end of Row 7.


Row 8 - ch3, * work 1dc in each st to ch2 space, (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in ch2 space, * rpt from * to * to last ch2 space, (2dc, ch2, 2dc) in ch2 space, 1dc in each st to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (109tr, 4, ch2 spaces + ch3)


Row 9 - (Divide for armholes) ch3, 1ps in each of next 13dc, 2ps in ch2 space, skip 26dc, 2ps in next ch2 space, 1ps in each of next 30dc, 2ps in ch2 space, skip 26dc, 2ps in next ch2 space, 1ps in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (65st + ch3)


Row 10 - ch3, 1dc in each ps to end. Turn. (65dc + ch3)


Row 11 - ch3, 1ps in each dc to end. Turn.


Rpt Rows 10 and 11 until 16 rows have been worked from beginning. Fasten off.


Sleeves x 2 -

With WS facing and 4.00mm hook rejoin yarn to ch2 space underarm where you divided, ch3, work 1ps in each of next 26dc, 1dc in ch2 space on opposite side of sleeve, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (27st + 3ch)


Next Row - ch3, 1dc in each st to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (27dc + 3ch)


Rpt rows alternately one ps row followed by one dc row until 8 rows have been worked from division. Fasten off. Turn.


Cuff - Join in color 2, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, sl st to first sc. Turn. (28sc)


Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc. Turn.


Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Button/Buttonhole Bands -

With RS facing, join color 2 to lower edge of right hand side of front edge, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 33 more sc evenly up first front edge to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch around neck to next corner, 3sc in corner, work 33sc evenly down second front edge to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each dc along bottom of jacket to next corner, 1sc in corner, sl st to first sc. Turn.


Next Row - (Buttonholes) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each of next 2sc, * ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in next 7sc * rpt from * to * three more times, ch2, skip 1sc, 3sc in corner on neck edge, 1sc in each sc around neck to next corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each sc to down second front edge, sl st to first sc. Turn. (5 Buttonholes made) (swap buttonholes to opposite side for girl)


Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to neck edge. Fasten off.


Return to buttonhole side of front bands and working from neck downwards, join in color 2, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc and ch2 space to corner. Fasten off.


Finishing - Close small gap under each arm, weave in any loose ends of yarn, attach buttons to correspond with buttonholes.


Pants - Using color 2 and 5.00mm hook ch72, sl st to first ch to form a round, change to 4.00mm hook, ch3, (WS) work 1ps in each ch, to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (71ps + ch3)


Continue repeating rows alternately one dc row followed by one ps row until 11 rows have been worked or work measures approx 5 Inches from beginning. Turn.


Divide for legs - ch3, 1dc in each of next 35ps, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.


Continue on these stitches in the same way repeating rows alternately one ps row followed by one dc row plus slip stitching and turning at the end of each row until 10 rows have been worked from division or until leg seam measures approx 5 inches Turn. Fasten off.


Cuff - Join in color 1, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each ps to end, sl st to first sc. Turn.


Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc. Turn. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Second Leg - Return to division, rejoin color 1 to next dc, complete second leg the same as the first. Fasten off.


With WS of work facing and color 1, work 72sc evenly along cast on edge at waist, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.


Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. Rpt last row twice. Fasten off.


Chain Tie - Using color 1 and 4.00mm hook, ch130. Fasten off.


Finishing - Weave in all loose ends of yarn, thread chain tie through alternate dc's on waist and tie with a bow.


Helmet -

With color 2, ch6 and join with a sl st to form a ring, ch3, work 13dc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.


Row 2 - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 2dc in each of next 13dc, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (27dc + ch3)


Row 3 - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (41dc + ch3)


Row 4 - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (55dc + ch3)


Row 5 - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each of next 7dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 7dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (62dc + ch3)


Rows 6-12 - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.


Row 13 - Join in color 1, * ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, sl st to sc on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt Row 13 from * once working in sc not dc's. Fasten off.


Earflaps -

Counting from back seam, with RS facing and color 1 yarn, skip 12sc, rejoin yarn to next sc, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 7sc. Turn leaving 42sc

un-worked. (8sc)


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.


Rpt last row twice. Turn.


Next Row - (Dec Row) ch1, dec 1sc over first 2sc, (see abbev) 1sc in each sc to last 2sc, dec 1 sc over last 2sc. Turn.


Rpt last row twice. Turn. (2sc)


sl st to last sc to make a point, ch50 for tie. Fasten off.


Return to un-worked 42sc, skip 22sc, rejoin yarn to next sc, continue second earflap same as the first. Fasten off.


If you are making the outfit for a baby girl leave out the earflaps.


Make a pom-pom - Using color 1 make a pom-pom, I used Clover pom-pom maker size 45


Finishing - Weave in and trim off any loose ends of yarn. Attach pom-pom to crown, use chain ties on earflaps to make a bow.
