100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in pebble (221) Colour 1

75 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in cream (046) Colour 2


OR

3.5oz of Light Worsted Weight #3 yarn in color 1

2.70oz of Light Worsted Weight #3 yarn in color 2

4.00mm crochet hook

6 small buttons, 2 decorative buttons for pockets


GAUGE - 5dc and 2.5 rows of dc's measures approx 1 Inch

Jacket (Worked in one piece starting from yoke) - Using color 1 ch57, (RS) 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in the next 6ch, (front) 3dc in next ch, 1dc in next 8ch, (shoulder) 3dc in next ch, 1dc in the next 19ch, (back) 3dc in next ch, 1dc in the next 8ch, (shoulder) 3dc in next ch, 1dc in the next 8ch. (front) Turn. (62dc + ch3)


Row 2 to 10 - Working through back loop of stitch only ch3, * 1dc in each dc to 3dc group, 1dc in next dc, 3dc in centre dc on 3dc group, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc group, 1dc in next dc, 3dc in centre dc on 3dc group, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Fasten off.


You should have 134dc + ch3 at the end of Row 10.


Row 11 - (Divide for Armholes) Join in color 2 and working through back loop of stitch ch3, 1dc in each dc to centre dc of 3dc group, 1dc in centre dc, skip 28dc, 1dc in each dc to centre dc of next 3dc group, 1dc in centre dc, skip 28dc, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (78dc + ch3)


Row 12 - Working through both loops of stitch from now on ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.


Rpt Row 12 until 14 rows have been worked from yoke. Fasten off.


Sleeves x 2 - Join in color 2 to side of dc under arm with a sl st, ch3, working through back loop of stitch only work 1dc in each of next 28dc, 1dc in side of dc under arm on opposite side of sleeve, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (29dc + ch3)


Next Row - Working through both loops of stitch from now on ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt last row until 11 rows have been worked in all from yoke. Fasten off. Turn.


Join in color 1 with a sl st to top of ch3.


Cuff - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.


Rpt last row twice. Fasten off.


Hood - With WS facing join in color 1 to neck edge with a sl st, ch3, 1dc in each ch along cast on edge. Turn. (54dc + ch3)


Next Row - Working through back loop of stitch only ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.


Rpt last row until 16 rows have been worked for hood. With WS facing fold hood in half and loosely sl st edge together to close, work through both loops of dc closest to you and back loop of dc behind (see pic). Fasten off.










Button/Buttonhole Bands - With RS facing join color 1 to lower edge on right hand front edge, ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, work 2sc in each row end up first front edge, 2sc in each row end on hood, 2sc in each row end down second front edge, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each dc along bottom of jacket, 1sc in base of ch1, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.


2nd Row - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc along bottom of jacket to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each sc up first front edge, around hood and down second front edge, 1sc in base of ch1, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.


Button Band - (Written for a boy, change sides for a girl)

3rd Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 51sc. Turn. (52sc)


Rpt last row 5 more times. Fasten off.


Buttonhole Band


3rd Row - (Buttonholes) Rejoin color 1 to neck edge, (where you started the hood) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in each of next 8sc, * rpt from * to * once, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in each of next 32sc. Turn.


4th Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc and ch2 space to end. Turn. (52sc)


5th Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in sc to end. Turn.


6th Row - (Buttonholes) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each of next 32sc, * ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in each of next 8sc, * rpt from * to * once, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in last sc. Turn.


Rpt 4th & 5th Rows once. Fasten off.


Pocket x 2 - With color 1 ch10, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (9sc)


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. Rpt last row 6 more times. Turn.


Pocket Edge - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last sc, 3sc in last sc, 1sc in each row end down first side of pocket to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch along cast on edge to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each row end up second side of pocket, 1sc in base of ch1, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.


Finishing - Close small gaps under arms, weave in any loose ends of yarn, sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes, sew decorative button to the centre of each pocket, attach a pocket to each front.
