100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in each of the 3 contrast colours


6.00mm, 5.50mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks

Decorative buttons (optional) for flower motifs


TENSION - 1.5 groups and 2 rows measures approx 1 Inch


Worked in multiples of 3

Blanket - With 6.00mm hook and contrast colour 1, make 122ch, change to 5.50mm hook, (1dc, 2tr) into 2nd ch from hook, * miss 2ch, (1dc, 2tr) into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 3ch, miss 2ch, 1dc into last ch. Turn. (40 Groups)


Pattern Row - 1ch, (1dc, 2tr) into base of 1ch, * miss 2tr, (1dc, 2tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2tr and dc, miss 2tr, 1dc into last dc. Turn.


Rpt Pattern Row 10 more times, until 12 rows have been worked in all. Fasten off.


Work Pattern Row in following colour sequence:-


# 4 rows Main Colour. Fasten off.

12 rows Contrast Colour 2. Fasten off.

4 rows Main Colour. Fasten off.

12 rows Contrast Colour 3. Fasten off. #

4 rows Main colour. Fasten off.

12 rows Contrast colour 1. Fasten off.


Rpt from # to # once. Turn.


Border - Using main colour yarn, continue with Pattern Row to last dc, work

(1dc, 2tr) into last dc, (41 groups worked) working into row ends down first side

of blanket, * miss 1 row end, work (1dc, 2tr) into next row end, * rpt from * to * to corner (45 groups worked), work (1dc, 2tr) into corner, working along cast on

edge, > miss 2ch, (1dc, 2tr) into next ch, < rpt from > to < to corner, (1dc, 2tr) into corner, (41 groups made), working into row ends up second side of blanket, rpt from * to * to corner (45 groups worked), ss to first dc. Turn.


Next Row - Working down first side of blanket make 1ch, (1dc, 2tr) into base

of 1ch, * miss 2tr, (1dc, 2tr) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to corner, miss 1tr, (1dc, 2tr) into next tr, (1dc, 2tr) into next dc, working along bottom of blanket, rpt from

* to * to next corner, miss 1tr, (1dc, 2tr) into next tr, (1dc, 2tr) into next dc, working up second side of blanket, rpt from * to * to next corner, miss 1tr, (1dc, 2tr) into next tr, (1dc, 2tr) into next dc, rpt from * to * to next corner, (1dc, 2tr) into last dc, ss to first dc. Turn.


Rpt last row working along top, down first side, along bottom, up second side,

ss to first dc. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew and tie off loose ends of yarn.


Flower Motif - Make as many as you wish - Worked in rounds without turning throughout, using main colour yarn make magic circle, using 4.00mm hook work 1ch, 12dc into circle, pull loose thread of yarn to close, ss to first dc.


Row 2 - 1ch, (1dc, 4ch, 1dc) into base of 1ch, * miss 1dc, (1dc, 4ch, 1dc) into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, miss last dc, ss to first dc.


Row 3 - * (1dc, 1htr, 1tr, 2dtr) into next 4ch space, make 2ch, ss into 2nd ch from hook, (2dtr, 1tr, 1htr, 1dc) into the same 4ch space, * rpt from * to * into each 4ch space to end, ss to first dc. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew and tie off loose ends of yarn, sew motifs randomly on blanket and attach decorative button to centre.
