Materials

300 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in Saffron (1081) Colour 1

100 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in White (1001) Colour 2

5.00mm & 4.50mm crochet hooks

TENSION - 5tr and 2 rows measure approx 1 Inch using 4.50mm hook

With 5.00mm hook and colour 1 make 115ch, change to 4.50mm hook, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, * miss 2ch, 3tr into next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 3ch, miss 2ch, 2tr into last ch. Turn. (36, 3tr groups)

Pattern Row 1 -

3ch, * 1tr into next 2tr, work 1tr around the posts of the last 2tr worked, (see pic) miss 1tr, * rpt from * to * to 3ch to turn with, work 1tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, * miss 3tr, work 3tr into space between next 3tr, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr, miss 3tr, 2tr into top of 3ch. Turn.

Pattern Rows 1 & 2 form the pattern, rpt both rows until 61 rows have been worked from the beginning. Turn.

Edging - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr across, 3dc into top of 3ch, working down the first side of blanket, work 2dc into each row end to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into ch along cast on edge to corner, 3dc into corner, working up the second side of blanket, work 2dc into each row end to corner, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc. Turn. Fasten off.

Next Row - Join in colour 2, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end and 3dc into each of the corners, 1dc into last corner, ss to first dc. Turn. Rpt last row once.

Next Row - 1ch, 2htr into base of 1ch, work 1htr into each dc to end and 3htr into each of the corners, 1htr into last corner, ss to first htr. Turn.

Work two more rows in dc, working 3dc into corners, turn and ss to first dc on beginning of rows. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in colour 1, work one row of dc. Turn.

Work one row of crab stitch (see abbrev) Fasten off.

Flower - (Made in rounds without turning) With colour 1 and 4.50mm hook make 4ch, ss to first ch to form a ring, 1ch, work 12dc into ring, ss to first dc. Fasten off.

Row 2 - Join in colour 2 with a ss, * make 10ch, miss 1dc, ss into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, make 10ch, miss last dc, ss to first ss. (6, 10ch spaces)

Row 3 - * ss into 10ch space, work (3ch, 5tr, 2ch, 6tr) into same space, ss to next ss, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first ss. Fasten off. (6 petals)

Row 4 - Join in colour 1 with a ss to top of ss, * 1dc into top of 3ch, 1dc into each of next 5tr, (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) into next 2ch space, 1dc into each of next 6tr, ss into ss, * rpt from * to * to end. ss to first ss. Fasten off.

Finishing - Weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim, attach flower to a corner.
