Base of ch. Work in first stitch


ch3 counts as first dc


Size to fit approx: Newborn Baby 15” x 2” Wide


Materials

15 grams of Patons 100% Cotton DK in Color 1

10 grams of Patons 100% Cotton DK in Color 2


OR

Small amounts of Light Worsted Weight #3 100% Cotton in each of colors 1 & 2

4.50mm crochet hook


GAUGE - 2 pattern repeats and 2 rows measures approx 1 Inch

ch9, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in 5th ch from hook, skip ch1, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in next ch, skip ch1, 1dc in next ch. Turn.


Pattern Row - 3ch, (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in each ch1 space to end, 1dc in top of 3ch. Turn.


Rpt Pattern Row until 30 rows have been worked in all.


Fold headband in half lengthways and sl st last row and cast on edge together to make a round. Fasten off.


Edging - Working along the side of headband with RS facing, join in color 2, work 2sc in each row end to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.


Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1 more row of 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Fasten off.


Using color 2 rpt last 2 rows on opposite side of band. Fasten off.

Finishing - Weave in and trim off all loose ends, placing slip stitched seam to the centre on the back of the head, attach the snail motif to the front.
