Coat (Worked in one piece starting with yoke) -
Using color 1 ch55, (RS) 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (52dc
+ ch3)
2nd Row - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of the next
3dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2dc and ch3, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in last dc and in
top of ch3. Turn. (65dc + ch3)
3rd Row - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.
4th Row - (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of the next
2dc, * rpt from * to * to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. (86dc + ch3)
5th Row - as 3rd Row.
6th Row - as 4th Row. (114dc + ch3)
7th Row - as 3rd Row. Fasten off.
Join in color 2 with a sl st.
8th Row - (Inc Row) as 4th Row until 1dc and ch3 remain, 2dc in next dc, 1dc in top
of ch3. (152dc + ch3) Fasten off.
Commence with Skirt - Using color 1 ch3, 1dc in next dc, * skip 2dc, 1 shell group
in next dc, (see abbrev) * rpt from * to * last 3dc and ch3, skip 2dc, 1dc in last
dc and top of ch3. Turn. (49 shell groups)
Next Row - (Divide for armholes) ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 1 shell group in ch1 space
of next shell group, * rpt from * to * 5 more times, 2dc, ch1 in next shell group,
skip next 10 shell groups, 2dc in next shell group, rpt from * to * 13 times more,
2dc, ch1 in next shell group, skip 10 shell groups, 2dc in next shell group, rpt
from * to * 6 times more, 1dc in dc and top of ch3. Turn. (27 shell groups including
the 2 created underarms)
Pattern Row - ch3, 1dc in next dc, 1 shell group in ch1 space of each shell group
to last dc and ch3, 1dc in next dc and top of ch3. Turn.
Rpt Pattern Row until 11 rows have been worked from yoke. Fasten off. Work Pattern
Row once in color 2. Fasten off. Work Pattern Row once in color 1. Fasten off. Work
should measures approx 10.5 Inches from shoulder.
Sleeves x 2 - With WS facing rejoin color 1 to same shell group under arm (where
you divided and worked 2dc), ch3, 1 shell group in each of next 10 shell groups,
1dc in same shell group where you worked 2dc on opposite side of sleeve, sl st to
top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (10 shell groups)
Next Row - ch3, * 1 shell group in ch1 space of next shell group, * rpt from * to
* to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.
Rpt last row until 8 shell groups rows have been worked from yoke. Fasten off.
Rpt last row once in color 2. Fasten off. Sleeve seam measures approx 4.5”. Turn.
Cuff - Using color 1 ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, skip 1dc, * 1sc in each of next (dc,
ch1 space and dc), skip 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last dc, skip last dc, sl st to
first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (31sc)
Next Row - (Dec Row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, dec 1sc over next 2sc, (see abbrev)
1sc in each sc to last 3sc, dec 1sc over next 2sc, 1sc in last sc,
sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. (29sc).
Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first
sc on beginning of row. Turn. Rpt last row twice. Fasten off.
Button/Buttonhole Bands - Using color 1 with RS facing and starting at lower edge
on right hand side of coat, work 2sc in each row end, up first front edge, 3sc in
corner, 1sc in each stitch around neck, 3sc in corner, 2sc in each row end down second
front edge to end. Turn.
Next Row - (buttonhole row) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to corner, 3sc
in corner, 1sc in each sc around neck to next corner, 1sc in corner, * ch2, skip
1sc, 1sc in next 6sc, * rpt from * to * once, ch2, skip 1sc, 1sc in remaining sc.
Turn. (3 buttonholes made).
Starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc and ch2 space to corner.
Fasten off.
Finishing - Close small gaps under arms, weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim,
decorate with ribbon.
Bonnet - Using color 1 ch62, (RS) 1dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each ch to end.
Turn (59dc + ch3)
Next Row - ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.
Rpt last row until 9 rows have been worked or work measures approx 4 Inches. Fasten
off. Turn.
Next Row - Skip 20dc, rejoin yarn to 21st dc, ch3, 1dc in each of next 19dc, turn
leaving 19dc and ch3 un-worked. (19dc + ch3).
Continue on these centre stitches, by working ch3, 1dc in each dc, 1dc in top of
ch3 until centre panel fits along side panels. (approx 11 rows) Fasten off.
Front edge - With RS facing rejoin color 1 to cast on edge at front of bonnet, working
on the opposite side of cast on ch, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each ch to end.
Fasten off. Turn.
Brim - Join in color 2, working in back loop of stitch only for this row ch3, skip
2sc, * 2dc, ch1 in next sc, 2dc in next sc, skip 2sc, * rpt from * to * to end, 1dc
in last sc. Fasten off. Turn. (14, ch1 spaces)
Next Row - Using color 1 ch3, 1 shell group in each ch1 space to end, 1dc in top
of ch3. Turn.
Rpt the last row until 5 shell group rows have been worked. Fasten off.
Return to Front Edge, working in loose loops using color 1, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1,
work 1sc in each loose loop to end. Turn. Work one more row of sc. Fasten off.
Finishing - With WS facing join side seams by sl st or over sewing with needle and
yarn, turn through to RS, work 1 row of dc stitch evenly along neck edge catching
in brim on both sides of bonnet as you go. Fasten off.
Weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim off, thread ribbon through dc around neck
edge and tie in a bow.
